The Book Farm Mission Statement

The Book Farm is an environmentally responsible and community friendly place to learn, meet and celebrate in Northwest Boise.

Environmentally Responsible: The Book Farm will always strive to make a positive impact to our environment by modeling and promoting sustainability in our business practices. This includes utilizing renewable energy, engaging in environmentally friendly parking practices, recycling diligently and making green, organic fair trade and other renewable products and information convenient and reasonably priced for our customers.

Community Friendly: The Book Farm will always strive to make a net positive impact in its community, including both our immediate Plano Lane / Hill Road neighbors and our surrounding area. This includes creating business practices and programming that benefits our neighbors and surrounding community, being mindful of our neighbors’ physical space, and developing our business events and programming in a way that minimizes disruption and encourages community involvement.

At the Book Farm, we believe that learning, meeting and celebrating are fundamentally important activities for a productive community to engage in. As such, we provide services in all three areas:

Learning at the Book Farm: Through classes created in partnership with the community and scheduling educational events, the Book Farm will continually endeavor to create a place for learning that promotes leadership, creativity, and environmental stewardship. The Book Farm will strive to create education opportunities and provide educational resources that are accessible, reasonably-priced and beneficial to the community.

Meeting at the Book Farm: The Book Farm provides a unique place for small gatherings of people to meet for development, educational or business purposes. This environment will be maintained in such a way as to provide a serene, private meeting space that simultaneously provides essential meeting technology and resources.

Celebrating at the Book Farm: The Book Farm provides people and organizations of all types a place to celebrate through parties, reunions, weddings and other events. The Book Farm considers each celebration as one of our own and as such will treat celebration planners and participants with a unique level of care and attention.

We continually strive to promote green, organic, sustainable and fair trade practices to the extent possible at all our classes, workshops, meetings and events and through our retail store.
